Christopher Michaels
Your Girlfriends Favorite DJ
Christopher Michaels began his DJ career in the late 70’s and like many of today’s DJs, Chris was digging in his pop’s crates long before he had his own. Since his father was a DJ, it's probably fair to say that's where he developed his love for real old school classics.
Chris developed his skills of moving effortlessly between diverse musical styles by holding down a residency at one of Toronto’s first urban nightclubs Ecstasie Lounge while spending Friday nights playing for the after work corporate crowd at Sammy's Exchange in the First Canadian Place.
After taking a six-year hiatus, Chris returned to the Toronto DJ scene in 1995, and quickly made a mark for himself. While rocking classic hotspots Fluid & Studio 69, he caught the attention of Canada’s first urban station and was invited to be a part of the Flow family. This multi-award winning DJ began his commercial radio career in 2001 by co-hosting the all-old school mix show, Reflections, helping to launch Canada's first urban radio station FLOW 93.5FM. "Your Girlfriend's Favorite DJ" was the resident mixshow DJ on weekend afternoons at Flow for 10 years. His show - The ChrisMix, captured the attention of listeners across the city and online around the world.
In 2011, he joined G98.7 FM, the country's first urban adult contemporary station and established the Soul School Mix, a mix show heard twice a day during the morning and evening drive that kept listeners around the globe engaged for five straight years.
He can currently be found at one of the Toronto’s most exclusive nightclubs The Citizen (formerly Brant House) every Saturday where he has been rocking to sold out crowds for the last 22 years.
